PHOENIX – With NBA free agency less than two weeks away, the Phoenix Suns tendered qualifying offers to two key free agents for next season. According to Keith Smith of Spotrac, Mark Williams and Koby Brea received those offers and will become restricted free agents, securing their bird rights and ability to match any opposing team’s offer.

With reports of Phoenix already in negotiations with other free agents like Collin Gillespie and Jordan Goodwin, the fate of Williams and Brea might be up in the air for next season.

Suns tendered offers to Williams and Brea:

Williams had his most healthy season ever, playing 60 games and averaging 11.7 points and 8.0 rebounds per contest. He remained head coach Jordan Ott’s starting center throughout the season and was a critical piece for the franchise’s resurgence. The 24-year-old’s left foot injury that forced him to miss the end of the season and playoffs puts a damper on a productive year for the big man.

Despite those positives, Williams injury concerns makes his impending free agency a mystery for the type of money he’ll receive. The Suns won’t have much money to offer the fourth-year pro, if the team re-signs Gillespie and Goodwin as expected. Phoenix will aim to remain under the luxury tax and the first apron to avoid future penalties.

Brea was the 41st pick in the 2025 NBA draft out of Kentucky and didn’t get much run his rookie season. In 12 games, averaging seven minutes a game, the 23-year-old averaged 3.8 points on 43.3% shooting from 3. In the two games that he played more than six minutes, Brea went one-of-eight in the first game and seven-of-11 in game two for 20 points. It’s unknown if he’s truly an NBA player yet.

In 25 G-League game with the Valley Suns, he illustrated a better sample size of his scoring ability. Brea averaged 15 points and 4.6 rebounds shooting 36.5% on 3s with 9.8 attempts. During the draft and Summer League, Brea was garnering Devin Booker comps with their offensive habits.

And while each will abuse the post and short corner, Brea is a much more reliant on his three-point shooting than Booker. His percentages in both the NBA and G-League is impressive enough for Phoenix to bring him back on a close to minimum deal for his sophomore season.

Does Devin Booker’s jersey number change hit towards fate of Suns big man in free agency?
