GLENDALE – As NFL enters the dog days of the offseason, Arizona Cardinals rookie quarterback Carson Beck reveals he’s using the downtime extensively. The third-round pick spoke with the media on Wednesday about how he’s been training since the end of mandatory minicamp. Head coach Mike LaFleur spoke about the 40-day break before training camp could make or break players, and Beck has been taking advantage.

Beck on offseason training:

A 13-hour workday from dawn to dusk to prepare him for his rookie campaign. Beck has had a major chip on his shoulder throughout his college career into his professional life. Going from Georgia to Miami, the 24-year-old has consistently played in big environments with immense pressure. But similar to those programs, the Cardinals have stellar minds surrounding him to elevate his play and knowledge.

Beck highlighted quarterback coach Matt Schaub, a former Pro Bowler, offensive coordinator Nathaniel Hackett, coached MVP Aaron Rodgers, and head coach Mike LaFleur, who coached MVP Matthew Stafford. The coaching staff and support system is perfect for a young mind to grow, and while the jump from NCAAF to NFL is drastic, Beck isn’t taking that privilege lightly.

Being third-string on the depth chart is another motivation factor for the young QB. Jacoby Brissett sitting out till a new deal is struck has given him more eyes and opportunities earlier in the offseason. Despite that chance, he remains Pro Bowler Gardner Minshew for the starting role. The outside noise and being behind two stellar quarterbacks could put a rookie in a negative head space. Beck hasn’t shown signs of that, welcoming noise by his extensive workdays preparing for the 2026 season.

Should the Cardinals aim for Brendan Sorsby in 2026 NFL supplemental draft?
