The Arizona Cardinals suffered a major blow on Sunday, as veteran offensive lineman Will Hernandez is now expected to miss the remainder of the season with a knee injury sustained in Sunday’s loss to the San Francisco 49ers, according to Mike Garafolo of NFL Network.
Thank you for reading this post, don't forget to subscribe!Hernandez went down in the fourth quarter and had to be carted off the field, with the injury immediately appearing severe. His absence leaves a significant gap in the Cardinals’ offensive line as they prepare to face the Green Bay Packers next Sunday. This will mark the first time since December 2022 that Hernandez, the Cardinals’ starting right guard, will miss a game.
The loss of Hernandez compounds an already difficult season for Arizona’s offensive line. The team parted ways with longtime starter D.J. Humphries during the offseason, who had been their most experienced lineman. In addition, the Cardinals have been without 26-year-old Jonah Williams, who suffered a knee injury in the season opener against the Buffalo Bills. Williams signed a two-year, $30 million contract with the Cardinals over the offseason.
In Hernandez’s place, Trystan Colon filled in at right guard on Sunday. Another option for the Cardinals moving forward is Isaiah Adams, a promising third-round pick from the 2024 draft, who played his college football at Illinois. Adams saw playing time in the 1st four games of the season, mostly on special teams, but he was inactive on Sunday due to a thumb injury.
