TAMPA BAY — It wasn’t a question of if, but when Arizona Diamondbacks star Corbin Carroll would break the franchise record for triples. On Friday against the Tampa Bay Rays, he did just that.

Carroll has been known for his speed since making his major league debut in 2022, combining elite speed with power and contact to routinely turn hits into triples. So much so that the 25-year-old led MLB in triples in 2024 and 2025 and currently leads the league again this season.

And on Friday, those tools helped Carroll etch his name into D-Backs history.

Facing the Rays, Carroll connected on a 78.9 mph changeup from Nick Martinez and, as Diamondbacks fans have seen so many times before, raced around the bases to reach third safely. The hit marked his 10th triple of the season and the 53rd of his career, breaking the franchise record of 52 and fastest to do so in fewest games (566 games).

While Friday’s milestone will grab the headlines, it also represents something bigger — a player drafted and developed by Arizona reaching another milestone in a career that continues to trend upward.

Carroll has been with the D-Backs organization since the club drafted him in 2019 and has worked his way up through hard work and the promise of becoming a cornerstone of the franchise. While there have been moments in his young career that tested him, Carroll’s drive to adjust and improve has helped turn him into one of the game’s premier young stars.

At just 25 years old, Carroll’s place in Diamondbacks history is already secure. And if his career continues on its current trajectory, Friday’s record-breaking triple likely won’t be the last milestone he reaches in Sedona Red.
