According to FootballScoop’s John Brice, and later confirmed by Sun Devil Source’s Chris Karpman, Kentucky rising sophomore quarterback Cutter Boley has committed to ASU.
Boley, rated the No. 15 quarterback in the 247Sports transfer portal, brings a combination of mobility and arm talent to Tempe. Though only two years into his collegiate career, the quarterback has shown promise as a potential leader on the offensive side of the ball.

In 2025, Boley threw for 2,160 yards and 15 touchdowns with a 65.8% completion rate. However, he struggled with turnovers, finishing the season with 12 interceptions.
What makes the commitment particularly interesting is the crossroads Arizona State faces with the direction of its program. With many of the players who helped elevate the Sun Devils into Big 12 contention having moved on, much of the recent buzz surrounded quarterback Sam Leavitt entering the transfer portal.

Coincidentally, Leavitt has reportedly drawn interest from Kentucky, Boley’s former school. If Leavitt were to accept an offer from the Wildcats, it would effectively become a quarterback swap. While there is no direct link between the two moves, the timing has made the situation feel almost pre-planned.
Boley’s commitment is significant for the Valley, providing stability at a position that needs it most. It’s not only the departure of Leavitt that has impacted the quarterback pool, but also Jeff Sims declaring for the NFL Draft. By securing a top-20 portal quarterback, Arizona State sends a clear signal that players continue to view the program as elite and a viable place to continue their careers.

The Sun Devils will now look to develop Boley into a core piece for the next several seasons as they continue to add key contributors heading into 2026.
