GLENDALE – It’s no secret that the Arizona Cardinals will be looking to offload Kyler Murray and his massive contract at some point in the near future. The franchise silent benching him by placing injury reserve has likely sealed the fate of the two sides, which will now shift the focus on how they will part ways. Murray’s $37 million next year will make him a tough challenge to trade him, which leans towards Arizona releasing the two-time Pro Bowler.

Plenty of teams would be interested like the New York Jets, Cleveland Browns, Miami Dolphins, Carolina Panthers or even the Los Angeles Rams. Despite Arizona tanking Murray’s value over the year, Fowler believes that NFL coaches would be up for the challenge with bringing in Murray.

Fowler on why teams would take a chance on Murray:
“Coaches love reclamation projects, and I think Murray can be salvaged. Several former first-round picks have had success after leaving the teams that drafted them: Daniel Jones (Colts), Sam Darnold (Vikings/Seahawks), Baker Mayfield (Buccaneers) and even Mac Jones (49ers) to a lesser extent. Murray is deeper into his career than those players were, but many league evaluators still considered him among the top 12-14 quarterbacks entering this season. What happened this season won’t change that outlook too much. The NFL is starving for capable quarterback play, so he should find a home somewhere.”

The 28-year-old is still in his prime and a consensus top-half quarterback in this league. Many NFL teams are either facing the problem of being in quarterback purgatory, like the Jets and Browns, or their starter is in the Twilight of their career and they need a backup plan, like the Rams. Murray is still an elite dual-threat quarterback that in the right system could still flourish and that is why he could warrant trade value from other teams.
