The visit comes after the Diamondbacks landed in Colorado, with their next series against the Colorado Rockies. Since the Cardinals are practicing in Englewood for their upcoming preseason game against the Denver Broncos, the D-Backs manager went to catch some of the action himself.

Lovullo spoke with the media at practice and when asked which coach he would be on a football team, he jokingly said the special teams coach.

“If I could go out there and yell and scream and just cuss guys out for 45 minutes, I’d be in my element for sure,” Lovullo said, according to PHNX Diamondbacks.

The D-Backs manager also acknowledged the importance of supporting Valley teams whenever an opportunity presented.

“I love this,” said Lovullo, according to PHNX Cardinals’ Johnny Venerable. “… I love the overlap between teams and supporting other staff members and other organizations. [Jonathan Gannon] is the best. Just [to] come out here and give the Cardinals some love; it was a no-brainer for me.”

Fans of both teams also reacted to the surprise visit from the Diamondbacks manager.

Lovullo’s visit highlighted the bond between Arizona’s professional sports teams and the importance of connection throughout different organizations.
