“[Bonner] is a true winner, leader and one of the most talented and versatile players in our game,” Mercury manager Nick U’Ren said in a team statement. “Her high basketball IQ, shooting range, athleticism, and ability to play and defend multiple positions is going to be a great addition to what we are building here in Phoenix.”

Bonner won two championships with the Mercury in 2009 and 2014. She played in Phoenix from 2009 to 2019 and with the Connecticut Sun from 2020 to 2024.
In her last season with Connecticut, Bonner averaged 15.0 points, 6.0 rebounds, 2.0 assists and 1.2 steals.
To make room for Bonner on the roster, Murjanatu Musa was waived.

Bonner Waived After Rocky Stint In Indiana
Bonner’s reunion in Phoenix comes after being waived by the Indiana Fever, after only playing nine games, on June 25. She signed with the Fever in February of this year and requested a trade when she was away from the team for personal reasons.

There were mixed reactions to the news, with Dave Portnoy from Barstool Sports calling Bonner “useless” for the Fever in a post after she was waived.
“Wish her [the] best of luck,” he said.
