The D-Backs will look to their new ace Corbin Burnes today, as he makes his second ever start for the Arizona Diamondbacks. His first start as a D-Back, he had 8 strikeouts in 4.1 innings, with a total of 98 pitches. Arizona is hoping he can go a little bit deeper in today’s matchup and will monitor his pitch count as well. They will still be without Ketel Marte, their star second baseman, as he injured his hamstring in Friday’s matchup at Nationals Park. Burnes has faced Washington three times as a starting pitcher, and has an 0-1 record with a 3.86 ERA against them.
The Nationals will be riding with their ninth different lineup in nine games, as Dave Martinez seems to have a method to his madness. They will be sitting Jacob Young again today, as he focuses on his hitting mechanics, but they are throwing Luis Garcia Jr. back into the mix today, as he bats second. Washington will be rolling out starting pitcher Trevor Williams for his second start of the season. In his first start of the season against the Blue Jays, he allowed 10 hits and three earned runs in five innings. Last season he had a 2.03 ERA across 66 innings of work.
