PHOENIX — Phoenix Suns coach Mike Budenholzer told the media ahead of Monday’s game against the Toronto Raptors that Bradley Beal will be re-evaluated in one week with a left hamstring strain. Beal missed the second half of Sunday’s 107-96 loss to the Los Angeles Lakers with hamstring soreness.
Thank you for reading this post, don't forget to subscribe! The three-time All-Star guard has missed 20 of Phoenix’s 68 games this season and will likely be absent for the better part of its most important stretch of the year as the Suns try and chase the Dallas Mavericks for the 10th seed and final spot in the West play-in.
Phoenix (31-37) is 1½ games behind the Mavs (33-36) and have the toughest remaining strength of schedule in the NBA with 14 games remaining. Their only glimmer of hope is that Dallas has been ravaged by injuries and will likely plummet the rest of the season.
Beal has the worst net rating on the team this season (-7.8), that even includes Jusuf Nurkic, who was traded to the Charlotte Hornets in early February for Cody Martin and Vasa Micic.
Following Monday’s game against the Raptors and Wednesday’s against the Chicago Bulls, Phoenix has a stretch of 10 games where they take on some of the association’s best teams — Boston twice, Cleveland, Oklahoma City, Milwaukee, Golden State, Minnesota and Houston. Beal is projected to miss around half of those matchups.
