This statement comes after Edwards swept Booker and the Suns during the first round of last year’s playoffs. Edwards said on the panel that he “fekt bad a little bit” about eliminating his childhood idol in Kevin Durant.
However, Booker transitioned from being a superstar in the NBA to filling all the little holes for the U.S. in the Olympics.
Booker led the U.S. with a +130 plus/minus through the team’s six Olympic games and five exhibition matchups. He had a team-high 18 points in the U.S.’s quarterfinals win over Brazil and 15 points, including a team-high 13 in the first half, in the gold medal win over France, while starting alongside four MVPs in Curry, James, Durant and Joel Embiid.
However, Booker’s role was highlighted by him picking up players full court, fighting through screens, being a floor spacer offensively, making the right pass as needed, crashing the offensive glass and much more.
Team USA coach Steve Kerr called Booker the “unsung MVP” of the team, while multiple media members referred to Booker as an “unsung hero.” Damian Lillard said Booker was a “special type of person” from taking on this role. Overall, fans were very appreciative of what Booker brought to the table.
In his six Olympic games, Booker averaged 11.7 points on 56.8% shooting from the field, 56.5% shooting from 3 and 3.3 assists in 22 minutes per game.
