In July, Luis hit .326 at the plate with an impressive .889 OPS. Over 21 games, he tallied 29 hits, including 6 doubles, a triple, and 2 home runs, while driving in 8 runs and scoring 13 times. Notably, Luis excelled on the road, hitting .365 and reaching base safely in all 14 road games. His consistency was evident as he recorded multiple hits in each of his first five road games in July, boasting a .609 average during that stretch. Luis also achieved career-highs with a 4-hit performance on July 9 against San Jose and 3 RBIs on July 23 against Lake Elsinore.

Luis was signed as a non-drafted free agent by Arizona in 2022.

On the mound, Roman Angelo was dominant in July, going 2-1 with a 3.46 ERA across four starts, all of which were quality outings. Over 26 innings, he struck out 32 batters while maintaining a 1.04 WHIP and holding opponents to a .202 batting average. Angelo was a monster at getting hitters to whiff, with a 47% miss rate on his changeup and a 42% miss rate on his slider.

In his July 2 start against Eugene, Angelo tied his career-high with 10 strikeouts, further cementing his status as a rising star in the Diamondbacks’ farm system. Right-handed batters particularly struggled against him, hitting just .188.

Angelo was signed by the Diamondbacks as a free agent in 2023.
