Expectations are soaring for the Diamondbacks as they embark on the 2024 season, fresh from a trip to the World Series and a wildly successful offseason that saw them fortify their pitching staff into one of the best in the National League.

However, the burning question remains: how far will the D-backs go this year?

Our analysts at Burn City Sports have weighed in, predicting where Arizona’s 2024 campaign will come to an end:

Alec Cipollini-

Record: 87-75

Postseason: Wild Card exit

While I anticipate improvement in their starting pitching, I hold reservations regarding their bullpen, which proved to be a sticking point last season. Beyond Paul Sewald and Kevin Ginkel, who have been the most consistent relievers, it remains to be seen who else will rise to the occasion. With perennial contenders like the Dodgers, a significantly improved Giants squad, and the potential resurgence of the Padres, the NL West promises to be a dogfight.

Brendan Mau-

Record: 89-73

Postseason: NLDS exit

Despite the D-backs’ recent World Series run and the retention of much of their roster, the NL has become even more challenging this season, particularly within the NL West. Both the D-backs and the Rangers showed the viability of making a deep postseason push as high seeds, so anything is possible this season. With an improved rotation, the D-backs have a prime opportunity to establish themselves as one of MLB’s elite teams this season. They are undoubtedly a team to watch.

Jacob Hardin-

Record: 90-72

Postseason: NLCS

In my estimation, there are only two teams in the National League superior to the Diamondbacks in a single-game scenario: the Los Angeles Dodgers and the Atlanta Braves. The Diamondbacks built upon their World Series this roster and there is absolutely no reason why they cannot beat their win total from last year. Considering Arizona managed over 80 wins with a starting rotation featuring Zac Gallen, Merrill Kelly, Madison Bumgarner, Zach Davies, and Ryne Nelson, the potential of their upgraded rotation this year is staggering. While they could potentially defeat the Braves or Dodgers in a best-of-seven series, vanquishing both seems improbable.
