Perry has picked up right where it left off last season and now possesses a real chance to repeat as 6A champion.
The Pumas (17-4-2) had no trouble during their first two rounds, defeating Sunnyslope and Basha.
They then hosted the Jackrabbits (16-3-1), who previously took out the No. 1 seed, Sunnyside.
After Mesa tied the game with about 20 minutes to go, the Pumas were able to deliver on a last-minute header. This gave the team a 2-1 lead over Mesa and the victory.
Championship Rematch
Perry is now set to face the San Luis Sidewinders in the 6A Championship for the second straight year.
The Sidewinders (14-0-1) have yet to lose a game this season. They have also not given up a goal through three playoff games played.
It is worth noting that San Luis was also undefeated heading into last year’s championship game. These have been two dominant programs and this rematch is set to be a battle.
The Pumas can once again solidify themselves as the conference’s best team. The Sidewinders can get over that hump and bring home the program’s first-ever 6A championship win.
