GLENDALE – Tyler Allgeier did far more than deliver a career performance against the Dallas Cowboys, giving the Arizona Cardinals organization another reason to believe its offensive identity can survive adversity. On Wednesday, Allgeier was named NFC Offensive Player of the Week after powering Arizona’s come-from-behind overtime victory with 147 rushing yards, 44 receiving yards, and two touchdowns. The recognition marked his first weekly conference honor.

His performance was particularly impressive considering the circumstances. With injuries sidelining Jeremiyah Love and Bam Knight, Arizona turned to the fifth-year professional out of BYU to carry the workload. Entering Sunday, Allgeier had accumulated just 64 rushing yards over his previous three games and had not surpassed 61 yards in any individual game this season.

Arizona needed a spark, and Allgeier provided it with a 63-yard touchdown run late in the third quarter, the NFL’s longest rushing touchdown of the season. He followed that with a 52-yard run before catching a five-yard touchdown pass from Gardner Minshew II. According to Next Gen Stats, his plus-96 rushing yards over expected represented the most by an Arizona player since at least 2018. The award also represents a broader accomplishment for the Cardinals, who now have three NFC Player of the Week selections this season, their most since earning seven in 2021.

For Arizona, the takeaway extends beyond one Sunday. Allgeier demonstrated that dependable production does not always come from the expected names. If he can carry that momentum forward, the Cardinals may have discovered an important piece of their offensive identity. The challenge now is proving this performance was a beginning rather than an exception.
