Ahead of the Suns matchup with the Los Angeles Clippers on Wednesday night, Frank Vogel clarified why Kevin Durant is missing another game with right hamstring soreness.

Originally, Vogel seemed hopeful that Durant would only be out for one night, but, according to the Suns’ HC, KD was not cleared by Phoenix’s medical team so he will be out at least one more game.

Vogel’s statement before tipoff: ‘If guys are able to play, we’re going to have them out there, but obviously if there’s a risk of him coming back too soon and that’s going to put him out a month, we’re going to be smart.’

Against the Trail Blazers on New Year’s Day, the Suns managed to be just fine without their top scorer as they blew out Portland by 21 points. This win was led by Bradley Beal and a strong performance from Phoenix’s bench.

However, the Clippers are a much different team than the Trail Blazers. Los Angeles has won 12 of their last 14 games. In this hot stretch, they have beat some notable opponents, including the Nuggets, Heat, Warriors, Kings, Pacers and Mavericks.

After originally losing five in a row after acquiring James Harden, the Clippers have gone 17-5 since November 17th.

Tonight will mark the Suns first meeting with Clippers under Frank Vogel’s guidance. Tipoff is at 7 p.m. inside Footprint Center.
