The undefeated Mesa Jackrabbits Varsity Boys basketball team faces the 6-2 Salpointe Catholic Lancers tonight, Dec. 7, at 7 p.m.

Mesa’s Hot Start To The Season
The Jackrabbits have started the new season with seven straight victories and have outscored their opponents 453-362.

While the rankings do constantly change, they are currently the highest-ranked high school basketball team in the entire state of Arizona, according to MaxPreps.
The team’s leading scorer and rebounder this season is senior forward Anthony Seumanu. He is averaging 13.7 points and nine rebounds a game through the first seven.

The Lancers’ Start To The Season
The Salpointe Catholic Lancers have started the new season 6-2, including two crucial overtime victories against Shadow Ridge and Tuscon High.
The team’s leading scorer and playmaker this season has been senior wing Logan Martinez. Martinez has averaged 11.9 points, four rebounds, and 3.1 assists.
The versatile and quick wing has taken a much-needed step for the Lancers and will continue to be an integral part of their success this season.

Who Will Come Out On Top
As stated, the two teams will face off tonight at Mesa High School and both should not take their opponent lightly.
In their matchup against each other last season, the Jackrabbits defeated the Lancers 55-47. Salpointe will attempt to stop that from occurring again tonight.
