The Newark, New Jersey native was able to control the bout without a high punch output. He didn’t land more than 9 punches in a round.

So, now fans are going to be looking for a real challenge for Stevenson. Who can provide that challenge?

Gervonta “Tank” Davis

Gervonta Davis is 29-0 with 27 knockouts. He is one of the biggest stars in the sport. Davis fought Ryan Garcia in his last bout. The fight sold more than 1.2 million pay per views. This really shows the ability he has to make money in the sport and provide a platform to make his opponents a lot more popular than they were before.

Davis is the perfect opponent to challenge Stevenson and satisfy boxing fans. A fight between these two would do huge numbers and if Stevenson won. He would become one of, if not, the biggest star in the sport. As great as Stevenson is, there is a danger of going against a knockout artist like Davis. Its the type of risk that can make Stevenson a legend.

Frank Martin

Before it was announced that Stevenson was fighting against De Los Santos. It was thought that he would fight against Frank Martin for the vacant WBC lightweight belt. Martin is 18-0 with 12 knockouts. This would not be the big time money maker like the Gervonta Davis fight but it would be one that boxing fans would look forward to.

Martin and his team did not provide a reason for why he didn’t fight Stevenson. There could be a big announcement that is coming soon about Martin’s next opponent. Hopefully he fights soon, so that he is available for a fight against Stevenson early next year.

William Zepeda

William Zepeda is 29-0 with 25 knockouts and last fought in September. He has a timeline that adds up with fighting against Stevenson. Zepeda has a style that is fan friendly and will provide a challenge for Stevenson. He threw 103 punches per round in his last bout. Stevenson didn’t throw more than 28 punches in a round on Thursday night. Stevenson’s superior defensive skill would definitely be tested against Zepeda.

Shakur Stevenson is a special talent that die hard boxing fans appreciate. Now, to become a superstar, he needs to have a special opponent. Gervonta Davis, Frank Martin, or William Zepeda all provide different challenges and benefits as his next opponent. Who do you want to see Stevenson fight next?
