Devin Booker OUT for Home Opener against the Utah Jazz

The Phoenix Suns are (1-1) after Thursday nights lost to the Los Angeles Lakers,100-95. The Suns were fighting an uphill battle in that game as they were without Devin Booker and Bradley Beal. It appears that the Suns will be fighting a similar battle as it has been confirmed that Booker and Beal will both be out against the Utah Jazz tonight.

It was confirmed on yesterday that Bradley Beal would be out for this game. He has been dealing with a back issue since the preseason. Booker sprained his ankle in the late moments against the Golden State Warriors on opening night.

Devin Booker and Bradley Beal’s absence really puts a spotlight on the two most asked questions about this team coming into the season. Can this team stay healthy? Will the lack of a “true” point guard have a negative impact on the offense?

Phoenix is failing on the health standpoint as Bradley Beal has not played yet and now Booker is set to miss his second straight game with no timetable set for his return.

In the game against the Lakers the impact of Booker’s absence was very apparent. Phoenix had 16 assists and 20 turnovers. They were only able to score 11 points in the fourth quarter as the Lakers loaded up on Kevin Durant.

The Lakers may have given the Jazz a blueprint on how to beat a Phoenix team that is missing two of their three best players. It will be very interesting to see how Suns’ head coach Frank Vogel adjusts to not having Booker out there.
