Under manager Torey Lovullo’s approval, there is a slim chance that the Arizona Diamondbacks might opt to deploy their ace, Zac Gallen, from the bullpen as they face the Philadelphia Phillies tonight in a decisive Game 7 matchup.
Thank you for reading this post, don't forget to subscribe!Gallen has already made two appearances in this series, including a start just three days ago in Game 5. While both of these outings didn’t go exactly as planned, the Diamondbacks are now willing to put everything on the line, given the high stakes of Game 7.
In his two starts against the Phillies in the NLCS, Zac Gallen has conceded nine earned runs over 11 innings, resulting in losses for the Diamondbacks.
But before the Diamondbacks even contemplate sending Gallen to the mound for another appearance on short rest, they will first turn to the rookie Brandon Pfaadt to get the start.
Pfaadt has been exceptional in the NLCS so far, which comes as a surprise to many considering his performance in the regular season.
Just after celebrating his 25th birthday before the series began, Pfaadt pitched a shutout against Philadelphia in Game 3, contributing to a Diamondbacks win.
In his last two postseason starts, Brandon has delivered 10 shutout innings, allowing only four hits.
The first pitch for this win-or-go home Game 7 matchup between the Phillies and Diamondbacks is set for 5:07 Arizona time.
