Former Suns and current Brooklyn Nets star player Mikal Bridges hopped on the Pivot Podcast to talk about his former coach Monty Williams being fired from the Suns a couple of weeks ago.

In the episode, Bridges made a point of emphasis on shooting down any negativity toward Williams’ way by stating that he’s not the reason for the Suns’ playoff disappointments from the last two seasons.
“He’s going to get through it,” he said on The Pivot Podcast (via Duane Rankin of the Arizona Republic). “He knows he’s a hell of a coach. He probably knows about the situation. Me personally, I say Monty is not the problem, but who am I? … Monty’s not the problem, but he’s going to be great somewhere else. He’s going to get another chance and he’s going to be alright.”
Bridges isn’t the only person that shares this sentiment. Former Indiana Pacer and NBA legend Reggie Miller who’s currently a color commentator on TNT believes that Monty Williams shouldn’t have been fired and even said told the Suns to be careful about what they wish for.
"Be careful what you wish for."

Williams had a great but tough job this past year as coach of the Suns as soon as Kevin Durant got traded mid-season to the team. There were a ton of turmoil and injuries that took place that didn’t allow Williams to get a full chance to see what Booker and Durant can do for a full season.
It showed how they both are in the playoffs. However, a lack of depth and injuries cost the Suns a chance of making it to the NBA Finals yet again under Williams’ tutelage.

We’ll see if Suns owner Mat Ishbia made the right decision by going in a different direction.
