Kelly ended the night on 3 for 4 with 1 walk, 1 run, and 1 RBI.
In the bottom of the 3rd inning the Diamondbacks got 4 hits in a row starting with SS Perdomo, followed by Kelly, an RBI by Luplow, and capped off with a three-run home run from Ketel Marte, a 423-foot line drive over the wall in left center field.
In the middle of the 5th inning, Diamondbacks lead 4-0 and Zac Gallen has yet to give up a base runner. In the bottom of the 5th inning, Carson Kelly gets his third hit of the night with an RBI single to right field, pushing the lead to 5-0, D-Backs.
In the top of the 6th inning with 2 outs, Zac Gallen could not handle a soft come-backer to the mound giving up the perfect game bid he was putting together. The next batter grounded out on a hard hit ball to first base and Gallen got out of the inning only giving up 1 hit through 6 innings.
Daulton Varsho gets in on the fun with a solo home run of his own in the bottom half of the 6th inning with 1 out, and at the end of 6, Arizona Diamondbacks has the lead 6 to nothing.
After giving up a lead off single to Juan Soto in the 7th inning Zac Gallen gets the next 3 batters out finishing 7 complete innings with a dominant performance, recording 7 strike outs, giving up 0 walks, 0 runs, and only 2 hits.
The Diamondbacks add on a few more runs late after Ketel Marte hits a triple in the 7th bringing Cristian Walker up to the plate with 1 out, who sacrificed a pop fly ball deep enough into left field to bring Marte home.
Then in the 8th inning things got out of hand as a routine ground out hit by Jake McCarthy rolled under the 2nd basemen’s glove starting a rally. Varsho hit a broken bat single on a ground ball into left field and after Perdomo’s RBI blooper scores McCarthy from third, back to back walks drawn by Kelly and Luplow, load the bases and score a run. Marte then pushes the lead to 10-0 before the inning was finally over.
Recently called up Edwin Uceta came in to pitch the 9th inning and after giving up a lead off double managed to get the 3 outs only giving up 1 run. D-Backs win 10-1.
