Eduardo Rodriguez will be on the mound today for the Snakes as he looks to clean a couple things up after his first start against Chicago. Rodriguez in that matchup, pitched 5.1 innings and gave up only three hits, having a decent day. Though he also let up two home runs and three runs total. If he can control keeping some of these balls in the park, the D-Backs could be sitting pretty. Rodriguez, has played against Washington just three times in his career, but has a 3-0 record against the ball club.

The Nationals will be starting left-handed pitcher Mitchell Parker, in a game that Washington desperately needs. It seemed like Washington was pleased with the way he made his first start of the season against the Phillies. He pitched 6.1 innings and gave up zero earned runs, and had five strikeouts. In that game, he did give up seven hits, showing that hitters are able to make some contact against him. In Parker’s 2024 rookie season, he pitched 29 games and had a 4.29 ERA.
The D-Backs will look to some of their backups today, including Tim Tawa who gets the call up from Reno to make his MLB Debut and start at second base after an unfortunate injury to Ketel Marte.

The Nationals also have made some lineup changes, and will rest Keibert Ruiz after his 0-for-4 game on Friday. Jacob Young will join him in a day off, as his 2025 season has also started slow. Alex Call, James Wood, and Dylan Crews will be in the outfield today for the Nationals.
The D-Backs take on Washington today, Saturday April 5th, at 1:05 p.m. MST
