Another Arizona Diamondbacks pitcher will end up on the injured list today, as Kevin Ginkel was added with right shoulder inflammation. Ginkel is projected to be one of Arizona’s biggest arms out of the bullpen this season.

Lovullo mentioned that the right shoulder injury Ginkel is suffering, just kind of crept up over the last few days, and says that any time on the injured list shouldn’t be too long. This answers the question though who the odd man out is for now, as both Shelby Miller and Bryce Jarvis will most likely go ahead and make the Arizona Diamondbacks Opening Day roster.

Head coach Torey Lovullo spoke on Kevin Ginkel:
“He’s going to work his butt off to get back here. We know how much we need him in our bullpen.”
When it comes to who the Diamondbacks closer will be in 2025, Ginkel will for now be taken out of the equation. This leaves Justin Martinez, who just signed a 5-year, $18 million dollar contract extension, or A.J. Puk, who the D-Backs acquired in July of last season in a trade with the Marlins.

The D-Backs also, in a move after the Ginkel news, have agreed on a deal with pitcher Jalen Beeks, giving the D-Backs a little breathing room while they battle injuries in their bullpen. Beeks, recently released after short stint with the Astros, played the most of his six years over in Tampa. His spring training definitely looked decent, as in four innings and three appearnces he only gave up one run, and had three strikeouts and no walks.
