Due to weather, the Diamondbacks game against the Cleveland Guardians has been postponed. The two teams will play a doubleheader on Wednesday before Arizona travels back home to play the Philadelphia Phillies. The first game of the doubleheader has a scheduled first pitch time of 1:10 P.M. ET, or 10:10 A.M. MST.

This isn’t the first time a game involving the two clubs was affected by rain. The Guardians were the opponent at the first and likely only rainout in Chase Field history on March 25, with the game getting called after six innings.
Eduardo RodrÃguez was set to make his Diamondbacks debut after missing the first 112 games with a left lat strain. RodrÃguez suffered the injury in a Spring Training game against the Chicago Cubs on March 19. Perhaps in a sense of irony, his first start of the year gets delayed further. From the Diamondbacks’ website, right-hander Brandon Pfaadt is listed as the Game 1 starter while RodrÃguez is listed for Game 2.
As part of a doubleheader, the Diamondbacks can call up a player from the minor leagues to serve as the 27th player. That player is not subject to the normal rules of an optional assignment, as there is no minimal number of days he’d have to spend in the minors to be eligible for a recall. That means someone like Humberto Castellanos, optioned earlier Tuesday as part of the roster moves, is eligible to be recalled for the doubleheader.
