The 2024 WNBA All-Star Game was dubbed “the greatest spectacle” in league history, and it surely lived up to the occasion.

Sold-out crowd, a competitive feel, and immortal moments blossoming at every turn — this game encapsulated what every All-Star game across all sports should feel like.

The Footprint Center hosted all events, and Phoenix Mercury legends Diana Taurasi and Brittney Griner were a large part of many conversations surrounding the weekend. And they happened to join some exclusive company.

Taurasi, an 11-time All-Star — and Griner, a 10-time All-Star — joined Maya Moore, Tamika Catchings (111), and Lisa Leslie (102) as the only players to score 100-plus points in their All-Star careers.

Griner came into the game with 96 points, and reached the feat first after scoring her first four points in the first quarter. Taurasi had 94 points before hand, and made that triple digits after an and-one and made free-throw in the second quarter.

This could very well be the final All-Star game that Taurasi appears in, and it’s only right that she goes out joining some of the other pioneers that have helped pave the way.

Griner, 33, will likely have her fair share of All-Star appearances before retiring. Her presence on the interior will always be there on both sides of the ball, and she’s continued to be a reliable scorer in the mid-range area. Expect to see Griner in the big game a few more times.
