Zac Gallen was able to get his 1,000th strikeout as a member of the Diamondbacks when he struck out Willy Adames looking in the top of the first inning at Chase Field on Monday night against the San Francisco Giants. Gallen not only makes franchise history for the D-Backs, but he also joins an exclusive list as he is now only the third member joining Randy Johnson and Brandon Webb.

Zac Gallen gets his 1,000th strikeout:

It has been an eventful and rollercoaster-type season for Gallen, as it has included sporadic up and down spurts where he has looked like the Cy Young candidate back in 2023, then has also pitched completely abysmally at times. His performance for the D-Backs hurt his trade stock incredibly. Gallen, who was once one of the top pitchers in trade rumors, completely fell out of the conversation once his struggles were very apparent. Gallen has had a resurgence and has been finding his command as of late, right when the D-Backs need it.

This historical franchise moment matters for the D-Backs and their fans in multiple ways, though the main reason is the future of Zac Gallen as a member of the Diamondbacks. Gallen enters free agency next season and will surely be a highlight name that will be in the conversations of many MLB clubs heading into the 2026 MLB season. These little memorable events that bring a player and club closer together can definitely help bring the vibes in hopes of Gallen returning to the desert.
