The Diamondbacks came back home after taking a 2-1 series against the Minnesota Twins over the weekend, gaining ground in the National League wild-card race. Only 2.0 games back before the game, the D-Backs were put with a tough task against the Giants, as they are also in the midst of securing the final wild card spot.
Perdomo was able to help manufacture runs throughout the game, reaching base in all five at-bats in the game with two RBI. He walked twice and went 3-for-3 with one triple, one double and one single.
While he didn’t have an opportunity to hit a home run for the cycle afterwards, Perdomo’s near feat had the D-Backs pick up a much-needed win.

Perdomo has had a breakout season so far. This season, he has recorded career highs in home runs and RBI. The D-Backs’ shortstop has a .290 batting average with 19 home runs, 97 RBIs, 26 stolen bases and an .853 OPS. He has the opportunity to become the first Diamondbacks player to record a 20-homer, 100-RBI, 25-stolen base season.
Entering Monday’s game, he led MLB position players in WAR at 6.3 — ahead of Los Angeles Dodgers designated hitter Shohei Ohtani, who had 6.2.
Perdomo’s three-hit game adds to his standout season numbers and was pivotal in the D-Backs’ push for a wild-card berth, as the Snakes are now 1.5 games back of the final spot.
