GLENDALE – The Arizona Cardinals impressive Week 1 win over the Los Angeles Chargers couldn’t have been done without the prowess of interior defensive lineman Roy Lopez. The 29-year-old was the highest rated player for Arizona by Pro Football Focus, garnering an overall 90.6. That grade puts him second in the league for interior defensive lineman. His work shutting down the Chargers run game, holding them to 81 rushing yards, was the most impressive mark in his career.
However, the good news ended there, as Lopez is dealing with a groin injury, according to head coach Mike LaFleur on Friday. Lopez is questionable for the home opener vs. the Seattle Seahawks, leading to a possible tough Week 2.

Lafleur’s injury update on Lopez:
Seattle only ran for 97 rushing yards in its Week 1 matchup vs. the New England Patriots. However, after falling behind early and the injury to starting QB Sam Darnold, the offense was all out of wack. A full week of practice to prepare for Sunday’ game will lead to a much more dangerous attack on the ground, led by rookie running back Jadarian Price.

At 5’11 and 209 pounds, Price was a part of Norte Dame’s one-two punch in the run game, alongside Cardinals rookie running back Jeremiyah Love. While it’ll be a competitive reunion for the pair, Arizona and Seattle will be trying to take sole possession of the NFC West. The Seahawks were top 10 in rushing yards per game last season. The lost of Kenneth Walker will be felt, but Price’s speed is a serious problem.
Without Lopez clogging up the middle, if Seattle’s offensive line can open up a sliver of a hole for Price, then he could easily take it to the house for a blowout. Second-year DL Walter Nolen will need to step up in a major way to replace Lopez’s potential absence.
