PHOENIX – A massive weight off the shoulders for the Phoenix Suns as their Villain will remain in the Valley. The franchise and wing Dillon Brooks agreed to a three-year, $73 million contract extension, according to ESPN’s Shams Charania. The deal takes him to the end of 2029-2030 or his age 34 season. The $24.3 million AAV puts him around the 76th highest paid player, which seems like a steal given the recent career year last season.

Brooks staying in Phoenix:
Brooks set career marks in points, with a 6.2 increase from the previous year. The 30-year-old came in as a part of the Kevin Durant deal and quickly changed the culture surrounding the team. With the help of first-year head coach Jordan Ott, Phoenix was able to improve their win total by nine games and secure the seventh seed in a tough Western Conference. Despite being swept in the first round, the front office felt confident in the core of the team, re-signing all their core guys to long-term deals this offseason.
The nine-year pro becomes the latest name to join that list, including Jordan Goodwin, Mark Williams and Collin Gillespie. Brooks wasn’t a free agent, but he was in the last year of his current deal worth $20 million.

The extension is a vote of confidence on the duo of Brooks and superstar Devin Booker for years to come. As the Suns try to dodge future cap problems, with them nearing the second apron, this new deal will look much more manageable with the expected year-to-year cap jumps. The two sides will continue activating the Valley and build off last season’s success in a massive win for all parties and fans.
