That number suggests oddsmakers believe Arizona could spend much of the season searching for answers rather than chasing a playoff spot. With the future of the quarterback situation being uncertain surrounding Jacoby Brissett, Gardner Minshew, and rookie Carson Beck, it’s fair to wonder whether the organization could once again be evaluating its future under center by season’s end.

The projection isn’t built solely on Arizona’s roster. The Cardinals compete in what many believe is the NFL’s toughest division, where every divisional game becomes a physical, high-pressure battle. Even if divisional matchups are historically unpredictable, facing elite competition six times dramatically lowers a team’s expected win total.

The Cardinals have consistently found ways to frustrate Dallas regardless of preseason expectations, proving that matchup history can sometimes outweigh talent on paper. To exceed 3.5 wins, Arizona doesn’t need to become an elite football team overnight. They need stability at quarterback, improved situational football, and the ability to capitalize against opponents with similar talent levels. Winning the games they’re supposed to compete in would immediately put the over within reach.
