GLENDALE – Less than two weeks away before the 2026 NFL Draft, and the Arizona Cardinals are still undecided. While the Las Vegas Raiders and New York Jets seemed locked into the top two picks, Arizona still has a handful of names linked to them at third overall.

However, ESPN’s Josh Weinfuss reported on Friday about another name that is very much “in play” for the Cardinals in Norte Dame running back Jeremiyah Love.

Why Arizona is interested in Love:
Despite reconstructing James Conner deal and signing Tyler Allgeier, the Cardinals are still considering taking a running back third overall. NFL.com’s Daniel Jeremiah and ESPN’s Mel Kiper Jr. both ranked Love as the second-best prospect in the draft. At 6’0, 214 pounds, Love is a powerhouse that has an NFL ready body and can plug behind any line and be productive.
That trait is crucial for Arizona, who is undergoing an offensive line makeover by signing four offensive lineman this free agency period. The 2025 season could’ve been a fluke for the franchise, as 2023 and 2024 the Cardinals’ running game was one of the best in the NFL. A healthy offensive line could be enough for a touted collegiate running back to turn around the 31st running attack last year.

The 20-year-old had in his two years starting in college had a total of 40 touchdowns in 28 collegiate games. Love is a truly special athlete that possesses breakaway speed, running a 4.37 40-yard dash at the NFL Combine. Ossenfort selecting the All-American third overall could lead to a crowded backfield, but it would be a stellar problem to have for a team that just went 3-14.
