Along with Fore Play, a Barstool Sports podcast, the WM Phoenix Open unveiled a limited-edition Adidas Samba shoe at TPC Scottsdale’s famed 16th hole.

“The People’s Open” has long blended serious competition with a party-like atmosphere, especially around the stadium-style 16th hole, where thousands of fans loom over every shot.

While it may seem like a niche piece of merchandise, the collaboration represents another way to promote one of the most attended golf events in the world, drawing spectators from across the country and beyond.

Leaning into lifestyle branding reflects the tournament’s growing cultural impact and its ability to attract a younger, broader fan base. Partnering with a globally recognized brand like Adidas creates excitement not only among golf fans but also among those who may be intrigued by the event’s unique atmosphere.

Tournament organizers have diversified fan experiences in recent years, from free admission for veterans to enhanced hospitality and entertainment zones. Collaborations like this amplify that approach, as marketing tied to the 16th hole has evolved into a true cultural asset.

With former champions and top names set to compete in the Valley for “The People’s Open,” the tournament continues to strike a balance between elite golf and fan experience.
