PHOENIX — The Phoenix Suns enter Tuesday’s play-in matchup against the Portland Trail Blazers in a position they have rarely held this season: relatively healthy.

After navigating much of the year with different lineups and key absences, Phoenix arrives at a win-or-in moment with most of its core ready to play. Guard Grayson Allen is listed as questionable, but the Suns otherwise bring a more complete rotation than they have had for much of the season.

That continuity has allowed the club to stabilize its approach late in the season, especially around Devin Booker, who remains the focal point of Phoenix.

With improved health comes a clearer identity. The Suns have leaned into a perimeter style built on ball control, spacing and shot-making. When operating effectively, Phoenix slows the game. That will prove critical against a Portland team that prefers a more physical approach, generating offense through paint scoring and second-chance opportunities.

The Suns’ identity, built this season on avoiding high-possession games and limiting turnovers, will be key against the Trail Blazers’ strengths. Despite winning the regular-season series 2-1, Phoenix has struggled to find consistency down the stretch, losing four of its last seven games.

Meanwhile, the Trail Blazers have won five of their last seven to close the season, including a commanding victory over the Los Angeles Clippers, who were competing for the No. 8 seed entering the play-in. It won’t just be a matter of which team’s healthy group performs better, but also the momentum each brings into the Valley.

The Suns have an opportunity to secure a playoff berth with a near-full roster, with their defined style of play set to be tested.

Phoenix and Portland tip off on Tuesday, April 14, at 7 p.m.
