TEMPE — Arizona State head coach Randy Bennett revealed he is addressing a recent health issue that arose after arriving in Arizona following his hiring as leader of the men’s basketball program.

In a statement released Monday afternoon, Bennett said he is currently working through the issue and expects to bounce back “very soon.”
“I’m in good hands, we feel good about the plan,” he said. “And I’m incredibly appreciative of the care I’ve received from the team at Mayo Clinic. Everything is under control, and I will be back at full strength very soon.”

ASU did not disclose any additional details about the situation.

The statement comes after the Sun Devils canceled Bennett’s introductory press conference last week without announcing when it would be rescheduled. Since then, Bennett has continued shaping his coaching staff, including the addition of Rick Croy, who previously served as an assistant coach with him at Saint Mary’s.
Arizona State’s program has been in the spotlight following Bennett’s hiring, as it looks to turn the page on the Bobby Hurley era. While he has not yet engaged publicly with Sun Devils fans, moves since his official hiring indicate he is prepared to reshape the program in Tempe.
