GLENDALE – It’s no secret about the Arizona Cardinals desire in trading away quarterback Kyler Murray. The seven-year Cardinals quarterback has likely played his last snap with the franchise after a nasty breakup and benching in Week 9 that has soured the relationship between both parties. Teams across the NFL are lining up to submit their offer for the former number one overall pick, including the Las Vegas Raiders.

Fox Sports NFL analyst Eric Williams wrote about Las Vegas’ interest in Baltimore Ravens quarterback Lamar Jackson, with his deal expiring in 2027. However, if Ravens don’t want to part ways with their MVP, then Murray would be the next best option for the Raiders.

Willams on Raiders shifting focus to Murray:

“If Jackson is not a consideration, the league source told me a trade for Arizona Cardinals quarterback Kyler Murray could make sense as well. Murray’s future in Arizona became cloudy this season with the Cardinals when head coach Jonathan Gannon said he would’ve been benched for Jacoby Brissett had he been healthy back in November.”

Regardless of what the Cardinals would get in the deal for Murray, trading him to a team ahead of the organization on the draft board might be a smart move. Las Vegas is projected to get the number one overall pick and are desperate need for a quarterback, which is the same boat as projected fifth overall pick Arizona.

Trading the two-time Pro Bowler to the Raiders eliminates one of the four teams ahead of the Cardinals to draft a quarterback ahead of them. Of the three other teams ahead of them, only the New York Jets are in the market for a quarterback, opening the door for Arizona to select their next franchise field general.
