Sims shared the message on social media, thanking teammates, coaches, fans and his previous alma maters while reflecting on his time at ASU. He emphasized gratitude and personal growth rooted in his faith while signaling his decision to enter the NFL draft.
Sims arrived at Arizona State in 2024 with experience and expectations, serving as a veteran presence behind quarterback Sam Leavitt. While his playing time was limited during his first season in Tempe, the 2025 campaign became a breakout year as injuries forced the Sun Devils to rely on him more heavily.
In 2025, Sims threw for 1,261 yards while completing 71.1% of his passes, totaling 10 touchdowns and six interceptions.

Sims is not the only Arizona State standout to declare for the draft, as wide receiver Jordyn Tyson has also announced his intention to pursue the next level. The decisions reflect the program’s continued development of talent capable of drawing professional interest.
With more Sun Devils looking to chase their dreams in the NFL, there’s more of a chance of seeing them shine on the biggest stages in football.

Despite a season that did not meet preseason expectations for Arizona State, Sims’ message marked the close of his college career and the beginning of the next chapter in his football journey.
