Brenly, who has spent much of his baseball career with the Diamondbacks and San Francisco Giants, has helped shape the history of the Cactus League in Arizona. Though no longer in uniform, his influence continues to be felt each spring.

A former major league catcher with the Giants and Toronto Blue Jays, Brenly transitioned into broadcasting before moving into a behind-the-scenes role with San Francisco. He later took over as manager of the Diamondbacks in 2001. In his first season at the helm, Brenly led the franchise to its first and only World Series championship. He finished his managerial career with a .536 winning percentage.
Brenly is part of a 2026 induction class that also includes Ichiro Suzuki, Paul Konerko, Dusty Baker and Geoffrey Gonsher.

While his defining moment with the Diamondbacks came during the fall of 2001, Brenly has continued to leave his fingerprints on the spring game. In recent years, he has served as a broadcaster, becoming a familiar voice in the desert’s baseball identity and within the Cactus League.
Brenly will be inducted Saturday, March 7, at 1:10 p.m. at Salt River Fields.
