A nightmare for a former coach could be an opportunity for someone else if the juice is worth the squeeze.
Thank you for reading this post, don't forget to subscribe!Sherrone Moore, 39, was everything for the University of Michigan — including a College Football Playoff National Champion in 2023 — however, he maybe done coaching for a while in college. A wild off-field situation that could be categorized as a Jerry Springer Show episode gone wrong has Moore in an reported affair with a staffer, him getting fired from Michigan, him attempting to harm the staffer and himself, and Moore now detained by law enforcement. Michigan is looking to move on quickly and while Alabama’s Kalen DeBoer has been mentioned as a candidate, another name has started to rise.
Kenny Dillingham back in head coach searches after Michigan spot opens
Kenny Dillingham of Arizona State is gaining attention for the Wolverines vacancy.
Dillingham, 35, has been at major schools including Auburn, Florida State, and Oregon.
He earned a Big 12 Championship in 2024 with the Sun Devils and won Big 12 Coach of the Year. After an 11-3 campaign that included a trip to the CFP, Dillingham coached ASU to an 8-4 season this year.
He has been under some very good coaches, especially Dan Lanning at Oregon. Josh Pate, a college football expert, feels Michigan should go after Dillingham if it cannot get DeBoer. Pate says Dillingham would ‘seamlessly fit’ the Wolverines.

“I think Kenny Dillingham would be an immediate home run,” Pate said. “People would fall in love with him at Michigan.”
Dillingham has not had the best of talent where he’s coached, but he’s gotten more out of less.
Pate feels that if he ends up at Michigan he can take the program to a new level.
