The franchise is sticking with its purple and orange color palette, updated for a sharper presence and cleaner look on the court. While the colors remain the same, the details tell a different story.

The new set, a white “Heroine” jersey and a purple “Explorer” jersey, incorporates elements from the Mercury’s history, including callbacks to past uniform designs. From the straps to the neckline to the tilted pattern on the shorts, the team’s story is woven into every piece.

Mercury fans have begun sharing their opinions on the new look.

It’s not unusual for a franchise to update its uniforms (Phoenix has done so several times), but it’s rare for the redesign to lean so heavily on the past and nod to the championships they’ve won. While the change may take some getting used to for some, the uniforms carry a sense of legacy in every detail.

Whether they’re wearing the Explorer or the Heroine, Mercury players will take the court with history stitched into their uniforms.

Fans will be able to purchase the Explorer jersey this spring, along with additional apparel through the team’s official shop.
