GLENDALE – Arizona Cardinals quarterback Jacoby Brissett had his resilience tested severely vs. the Jacksonville Jaguars. The 32-year-old was sack six times and endured some heavy hits in Sunday’s 27-24, including a hit in the third quarter that forced him to exit the game for a drive. Brissett remains consistent in his role for a starter, surpassing 300+ passing yards for back-to-back games.

On fourth-and-four, in a situation Arizona needs a first down or it loses the game, Brissett slinged a deep shot to wide receiver Xavier Weaver in double coverage that was batted down and ended the game.
Brissett discussed the throw postgame to the media and his decision to go deep in that situation.

Arizona Cardinals quarterback Jacoby Brissett (7) throws the ball as Jacksonville Jaguars defenders Arik Armstead (91) and Dawuane Smoot (98) close in at State Farm Stadium on Nov. 23, 2025.
Brissett on the final throw and team’s execution:
“Trying to go win a game. It was the coverage form, I got to make a better throw…It’s tough. We got to find ways to finish. Defense gives us four turnovers, and a pick six, it’s on me man. We got to find ways to finish drives with touchdowns.”

Head coach Jonathan Gannon agreed with his quarterback and loved the decision too, but Brissett wanted that ball back, as the throw itself was “bad”. The safety did dip to help cover tight end Trey McBride on the underneath route, which gave Weaver a one-on-one opportunity for a moment. However, as Brissett released the ball, Jaguars safety Andrew Wingard was able to cover the distance to join Christian Braswell in coverage to knock the ball down.
Brissett could’ve looked at other options like wide receiver Greg Dortch in the flats to secure the first down and keep the drive going, but the Cardinals quarterback liked what he saw deep down the field.
