GLENDALE – Friday’s preseason finale vs. the Green Bay Packers is set to be a massive game for the Arizona Cardinals. Outside of the sibling rivalry between the teams’ head coach in the LaFleur brothers, the game marks a revenge game for Green Bay’s defensive coordinator and former Arizona head coach Jonathan Gannon. After a three-year stint in the Valley, Gannon was let go following a 3-14 2025 season.
Despite the poor record, Gannon still has many supporters within the organization, including All-Pro tight end Trey McBride. However, when Friday rolls around, McBride is already pouncing at the chance to trash talk his former head coach, as he told the media on Monday.

McBride already thinking about what to say to Gannon:
Many players around the league have given McBride credit for his exceptional trash talking ability. Los Angeles Rams head coach Sean McVay highlighted it, and even new Cardinals safety Andrew Wingard had a viral moment of getting roasted by McBride. The two-time Pro Bowler and Wingard have had a rivalry since their college days at Colorado St. and Wyoming, which shows that McBride can hold a playful grudge. A skill that Gannon should be prepared for in the preseason finale.

The 26-year-old guesses that Gannon added some new defensive scheme in his short time away from the franchise. But, he believes playing against his defense in practice for three years has him prepared for the game against Green Bay. McBride is ready for the challenge, but he sees the opportunity as competitive fun. A perfect tune up game to get the blood flowing before the Sept. 13th season opener vs. the Los Angeles Chargers.
