GLENDALE – Week 12 marks five straight home losses for the Arizona Cardinals, which might be the most heartbreaking. The defense forced four turnovers against the Jacksonville Jaguars and had all the opportunities to pull away with the win. However, the offense has its most frustrating outing, allowing six sacks to one of the league’s worst pass rushes to lose 27-24.

Head coach Jonathan Gannon spoke with the media postgame about the loss and answered for the offensive struggles.

Arizona Cardinals head coach Jonathan Gannon embraces team owner Michael Bidwill before the team plays the Jacksonville Jaguars at State Farm Stadium on Nov. 23, 2025.

Gannon answers for offensive struggles:

“It’s the negative plays to me. Whether it be a couple of penalties, the sacks, runs…We got to do a good job of making sure we have positive plays, staying on schedule. We’re at that range to kick a field goal and we get bounced out of field goal range. Then, it’s fourth and long, and you don’t feel good about going for it. So, you have to punt. When you together some drives, like we did, you got to come away with points.

Arizona had just lost starting right tackle Jonah Williams for the year, and had guard Will Hernandez exit the game with a back injury. Gannon had to rely on multiple inexperienced players to fill in the hole, which lead to massive blunders. Besides the six sacks, the Cardinals had seven penalties for 53 yards and had 55 rushing yards.

The 2.8 yards per carry is abysmal, and already struggling running game because of injury can’t survive if the offensive line is fumbling. Despite the weak offensive performance, Gannon still believes in the play calling of offensive coordinator Drew Petzing, citing that the team had multiple opportunities to win the game.

The third-year Cardinals coach also loved Brissett’s decision on fourth-and-four in overtime to try to win the game. Gannon stated that hindsight is 20-20 because of the double coverage, but the decision and the offense as a whole appears to be a fixable issue for the 42-year-old.
