PHOENIX — After a standout first year with the Phoenix Mercury, Satou Sabally is making waves off the court as part of Glamour’s 2025 Women of the Year class.

Sabally is one of five WNBA players to be recognized in this year’s class, including her sister Nyara Sabally, Jonquel Jones, Lexie Hull and Napheesa Collier.
Since arriving in the desert in a trade from the Dallas Wings last offseason, the Mercury forward has helped reshape the organization’s identity amid a rebuild. She was part of the team’s Big Three, along with Kahleah Copper and Alyssa Thomas, and used her star power not only on the court but off it as well.

Sabally’s recognition reflects her growing influence in sports, culture and advocacy, underscoring her role as a leader in the WNBA. The Mercury All-Star has spoken about the difficulties players face, including travel, revenue sharing and the impact of social media on mental health.
Sabally is known for staying true to herself and speaking openly about her beliefs, regardless of criticism. She has consistently faced critics head-on and doesn’t shy away from having needed conversations, no matter how uncomfortable they may be.
