GLENDALE – Arizona Cardinals head coach Jonathan Gannon has had to face the criticism for three straight tough games. Arizona held a lead in all of its last three losses, just to lose on last-second field goal. Sunday’s 22-21 loss might be the worst of the bunch, as the team blew an 18-point lead.

“I told everyone in there, the clock is ticking. It doesn’t matter if you’re a number one overall pick, a Pro-Bowl safety, a third-year head coach, first-year assistant, it doesn’t matter. We have to do a better job to close out games.
“We got good players in there that care. They’re mentally trained and they’ll go back to work tomorrow.”

Arizona Cardinals head coach Jonathan Gannon yells out to his team as they play the Seattle Seahawks at State Farm Stadium in Glendale, on Sept. 25, 2025.
The 10-day rest looked to beneficial for the Cardinals early on through Gannon’s perspective, as the offense jumped to a 21-3 lead. However, the third-year head coach thought the sloppy play and the penalties hurt the team from driving away with the win.
Gannon was clear that one play didn’t lose them the game. Arizona had plenty of game-losing plays from the Emari Demercado fumble at the goal line, Kyler Murray fumble off his face, the interception to the fumble into the endzone for the Titans touchdown.
When there is that many losing plays, it’s hard to pinpoint one for the Cardinals eventual lost. Much like previous weeks, Gannon shoulders the blame and states that he needs to better, acknowledging he’s been saying the same thing for the past three weeks.

The Cardinals are 2-3, while having one of the easiest strength of schedules to start the season. Despite losing on back-to-back-to-back walk off field goals, Arizona can’t blame this stretch on bad luck. The offense has had an opportunity in ever lost to put the game away and failed every time, Gannon noticed it and knows change is needed.
