The Diamondbacks demonstrated that they are ready to make the most of these opportunities convincingly and overwhelmingly at the plate. If the pitching can hold up until this ball club gets healthy, Arizona could be on the path to make some noise later in the season.

Toeing the rubber on Tuesday night:

Arizona will be having Ryne Nelson get the start on Tuesday. So far on the season, Nelson has a 4-2 record with just a 3.88 ERA. Nelson has seen a larger role once an injury to star pitcher Corbin Burnes sidelined him for the rest of the season. In his last outing, Nelson threw 5.2 innings of only one hit baseball and only allowed one earned run as his only blemish was giving up a solo shot to Toronto’s Alejandro Kirk.

Jordan Leasure will be getting the start against the D-Backs on Tuesday. Leasure will most likely pitch for the first couple of innings, though it is reported that left-handed pitcher Tyler Alexander could be getting the bulk of the innings on Tuesday. (Credit: Rotowire | CBS Sports)

Josh Naylor was going to try and give it a go on Tuesday, although he was a late lineup scratch. Pavin Smith will take over duties at first base, Randal Grichuk will take the designated hitter spot, and Lourdes Gurriel Jr. will be batting cleanup to replace Naylor. If Arizona can replicate what they did yesterday on Tuesday night they will be set up and good position to take the series over the Chicago White Sox. The first pitch at Rate Field is at 4:40 PM.
