CHICAGO – It was another series win for Arizona, as the D-Backs defeated the Chicago White Sox by a score of 4-1 at Rate Field on Tuesday night.

Ketel Marte picked up right where he left off, as Marte smashed a no-doubter to right-center field in the first inning. His solo home run put the D-Backs on top early by a score of 1-0.

Jake McCarthy made his return and was able to make a key defensive play as he robbed a home run at the wall in the bottom of the second inning. Alek Thomas also made a terrific catch where he covered a lot of ground in right-center at the end of the fifth inning, helping strand two runners for the Chicago White Sox.

Arizona dealt with another injury, as Ildemaro Vargas was hit on the ankle by a pitch. The MRI came back with a fractured foot for Vargas. The injuries just keep piling up for Arizona, and D-Backs Manager Torey Lovullo turned to Tim Tawa to take over third base duties the rest of the day.

Ryne Nelson allowed the White Sox to tie it up after Luis Robert Jr. hit a solo homer in the bottom of the second inning. Nelson did settle in after that as he was able to pitch 5.0 innings while only allowing one earned run on one hit.

Arizona took advantage in the seventh inning and tacked on three runs after Alek Thomas got the run started by hitting a single to score Randal Grichuk. Soon after Jose Herrera hit a deep sacrifice fly to score Tim Tawa. Geraldo Perdomo made it a 4-1 game after his single was able to bring Thomas in.
Arizona gets the job done and defeats Chicago by a score of 4-1!

The D-Backs eventually won by a final score of 4-1 and will look to get the sweep tomorrow over the White Sox in an afternoon matchup on Wednesday.
