The Snakes had their chances, as Corbin Carroll had a double, and Josh Naylor had two hits on the day. Although leaving runners stranded on base has been a problem for this ball club, and it happened again tonight, as Naylor was left on third base twice in the second and fourth inning.

D-Backs pitcher Zac Gallen had a tough day on the mound for the Snakes, as he gave up seven hits and walked four hitters, giving up five earned runs. His Opening Day start at Chase Field wasn’t too kind to him also, but his outing in New York against the Yankees was a different story as he got 13 strikeouts, matching his career high.

One of the bigger moments in tonight’s game came from a screaming ground ball off of the bat of Cedric Mullens, to cause Tim Tawa to not be able to fully covert a potential inning ending double play. Ryan Mountcastle came up the very next at bat and hit a single that scored two, making it a 5-1 game.
