GLENDALE – As the Phoenix Suns aim to retool this offseason following a first-round exit, a report sees two veteran wings being a part of that plan. Clutch Points’ Brett Siegel reported on Friday that a source has indicated that Phoenix will be looking to use the full mid-level exception on San Antonio Spurs’ Harrison Barnes and Cleveland Cavaliers Dean Wade.
Thank you for reading this post, don't forget to subscribe!Last year’s Suns roster was considerably guard and center heavy, with Dillon Brooks doing plenty of the heavy lifting at the wing position. The franchise looks to alleviate some of that pressure for Brooks, according to Siegel.

Siegel on who the Suns are looking at in free agency:
“The Suns should have access to their full mid-level exception in free agency, and they will look to see what options are available in free agency, specifically on the wing and at the power forward positions. Sources say San Antonio Spurs veteran forward Harrison Barnes and Cleveland Cavaliers forward Dean Wade are two free agents Phoenix will have early interest in when free agency begins.”

Barnes is barely a part of the Spurs rotation and doesn’t quit fit the roster’s timeline. At 33 years old, Barnes gives a much-need veteran presence and gives the Suns something that was lacking last year: health. In his 13-year career, Barnes has played less than 65 once. This past season was the first time he averaged less that 10 points per game in 12 years, but he missed that mark by just .1. His consistency would be a nice addition to head coach Jordan Ott’s bench.
The Cavaliers being over the second apron makes re-signing Wade next to impossible, opening the door for Phoenix. At 6’9, the 29-year-old possess the size that can guard bigger wings and forwards, while still being mobile on the perimeter to defend smaller guards. Wade is a consistent 36% three-point shooter for the past three years. Despite his career-long low scoring numbers, Wade’s ability to spread the floor would add another layer to Ott’s offense.
Suns are out, but Devin Booker is still in the NBA playoff conversation
