PHOENIX – The Phoenix Suns are floundering towards the end the NBA regular season, and it’s only set to get worse. Superstar forward Kevin Durant has missed the past three games due to a left ankle sprain suffered during a blowout loss to the Houston Rockets. ESPN’s Shams Charania announced that Durant would miss the team’s upcoming road trip but would be reevaluated when the Suns returned home, with the hope to have the 15-time All-Star return to the lineup. However, that isn’t happening.

Durant is expected to miss his fourth straight game on Tuesday against the Golden State Warriors. Phoenix will be without their star forward, as they try to stop its season-worst six-game losing streak.

Can Suns survive?

Tuesday is the beginning of a three-game homestand for the team, who is happy to be back home after an 0-3 road trip. The latest stretch has Phoenix far and away from 10th Dallas Mavericks for the last Play-In Spot. Four games remain in the regular season as the Suns sit 2.5 games behind the Mavericks.

The franchise will have a chance to make up some ground, playing against the Sacramento Kings in its penultimate game of the season at PHX arena. Regardless, even if the Suns win out, will it be enough? Changes will need to be made next season, and the hopes of making the playoffs are fading, especially with the absence of Durant.
